Seghesio Family Vineyars’ Sonoma Zinfandel (one of many different Zins they offer) is a good $24 wine. It contains grapes from both the Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys in California’s Sonoma County, and some of the vines they are harvested from are over a century old.

Each year about 35 lots of Zinfandel are brought in, and the best of that selection is blended with a small amount of Petite Sirah to create the Sonoma Zinfandel

This medium bodied Zin has a bright plum purple color contains 14.8% alcohol – which definitely impacts the flavor.

Chad's Notes

I thought this was a very well balanced wine - so much so that it was almost hard to pick out specific flavors. It does open with a slightly sweet berry flavor, which then transitions to a finish that has a big bite and is a touch bitter. It was also a little dry but not excessively so.

Pretty good wine for the price, definitely one I'd drink again.

Lynne's Notes

Seghesio was a Goldilocks type of a wine for me - not too sweet, not too dry, but just right and I really enjoyed how balanced it was. There wasn't any one flavor that stood out, everything just blended really well together and it did have a bite to the finish due to the higher alcohol content.

This is one that I would definitely drink again, and it would have gotten a 4 Glass Value Rating for sure if it was in the lower price bracket!
